Review of Olympus W-10 Digital Voice Recorder

Finding a digital voice recorder that suits your specific needs at the right price can be a somewhat difficult task. The Olympus W-10 digital voice recorder, however, is one that you should certainly consider. Brand new, the W-10 costs about $130, but it is possible to get a used recorder on Amazon.com or elsewhere for about $40 - $50. This is a fairly competitive price for a digital voice recorder with as many features as the W-10. The W-10 is also one of the best looking, in our opinion; it has a very nice blue and silver metallic casing with buttons that are easy to find and work with.Olympus W-10 Digital Voice Recorder Features The Olympus W-10 digital voice recorder comes with a 16MB flash memory card that is just enough for three hours of lecture. And you will know just how many of those three hours you have used up with the nifty memory capacity indicator. The device has a forward/ reverse file search feature that makes it easy to find the file you are looking for. The slide switch operation thumb pad is quite a nice addition as well, and makes the device very easy to control. Of course, you can control the speed of playback, including a setting that allows you to play the recording 30% faster than real time. Some extra perks include a clock, calendar, usb cables/ connection, 24 hour battery life, and only 2.5 oz in weight. Overall, the W-10 digital voice recorder from Olympus is a very competitive product with all the right bells and whistles. If you can afford the slightly above-average price, it is well worth the cost.Overall rating: 9.2/ 10Bradley James is a senior editor at SciNet.cc, a website containing many helpful consumer electronics review articles.
